Recordings and project files

Clips, imported videos, mockup images, and backgrounds are stored on your Mac, in Framecast’s folder in Application Support. They are not uploaded to us. Export saves a file you choose, on your Mac. Deleting a clip from the library removes that file from Framecast’s library on that Mac.

Preferences stay on the Mac as well. That includes the last website address, scroll speed, recording size, mockup and background choices, and export settings.

Websites you record

When you paste a URL, Framecast loads that page in an embedded browser on your Mac and records what is on screen. The site, and any service that site loads, receives a normal visit from your network, including your IP address and cookies kept in that browser view. Hiding cookie banners only changes what is drawn in the recording. It does not stop the page from loading. Framecast does not send the page contents or the recording to us.

License

Framecast has no account. To unlock the app you enter a license key. The key, and an activation id returned by the license server, are saved on your Mac.

When you activate, and each time you open the app, Framecast sends the license key to Dodo Payments (dodopayments.com) to check that it is valid. Activation also sends your Mac’s hostname as the device name. That name is often something like “Jot’s MacBook.” Dodo Payments processes the purchase when you buy. Checkout opens in your browser. Framecast never sees your card number. Payment details are handled by Dodo Payments under their own privacy policy.

Updates

About once a day, Framecast asks GitHub whether a new version is available (github.com/Gurjotharika/Framecast). That request includes your IP address and a standard app request. The app does not send a system profile. Downloading an update is a separate step.

What we don’t collect

We don’t collect an account, email address, or contact list. We don’t use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don’t sell personal information.

How long it stays

Files and preferences remain on your Mac until you delete them or remove the app. The license key remains until you delete it from the app’s saved data. Dodo Payments and GitHub keep the information their own services receive, under their policies.

Your choices

You choose which sites to load and which files to import. You can delete recordings from the library, and you can remove Framecast and its Application Support folder to clear local files and the saved license key. You can turn off network access for the app in macOS; license checks and update checks will then fail until a connection is available.

Children

Framecast is not made for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted with a new date. Continued use of Framecast after that date means the new policy applies.
